The primary responsibilities of this role, Quantitative Genetics Strategy Lead, are to:
Develop, implement and lead the quantitative genetics technical, engagement and people strategy in Corn Product Design to deliver improved tools, data and germplasm assets globally;
Lead (i) the breeding goal definition and their alignment with product concepts, (ii) the design and optimization of breeding programs, (iii) the development, optimization and deployment of quantitative genetics tools (e.g., automated mating algorithms), (iv) the development and utilization of performance metrics for the breeding program, (v) the optimization of resources globally; (vi) the design and execution of genetic evaluations that have the granularity required by a global corn breeding program; and (vii) optimized data acquisition to enhance the accuracy of genetic evaluations;
Ensure alignment of quantitative genetics strategy and tools with key partners, especially Enterprise IT, Analytics and Pipeline Design and Automation and Pipeline Connection;
Be a key contributor to Product Design strategies for corn and across crops;
Ensure employee development, including growth opportunities for key high potential individuals and senior scientists, strong succession and change management efforts to prepare for future transformation within the function and workforce;
Be responsible fiscally for capital and budgetary oversight and for care and maintenance of company assets for over $1M of direct budget;
Drive HSE, Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights focus and culture in the region;
Lead and contribute to Global Breeding strategies and LRP, ensuring that these goals and deliverables are aligned with high level functional goals and commercial goals.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following.
Master of Science with at least 10 years of technology leadership experience or Ph.D. in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science or related fields with at least eight years of technology leadership experience;
At least five years of experience in leading teams with demonstrated leadership effectiveness in driving technical strategy, innovation and developing people;
Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genomics and/or quantitative genetics with a proven track record of driving innovation;
Strong ability in collaborating and building cross-functional partnerships to solve business or technical problems.
