About NIH/NIDDK/LBG
The Laboratory of Biochemistry and Genetics (LBG) is a highly interactive and stimulating research environment in the NIH Intramural Research Program, and is part of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). It is located on the main NIH campus, in Bethesda MD. Current research areas in LBG include the biology of prions and anti-prion systems, centrosome function, mechanisms underlying chaperone function, regulation of gene expression in bacteria and eukaryotes, translation, modeling disease in model organisms, and nuclear envelope dynamics. NIDDK supports a wide range of basic and clinical biomedical research, as well as several state-of-the-art core facilities. The NIH intramural research program includes over 1,100 Principal Investigators and offers many unique advantages, including stable funding, shared resources, the ability to do high-risk basic research, access to clinical collaborators, a wide range of basic science expertise, and the opportunity to train post-bacs, graduate students and post-docs, who are also supported by the Office of Intramural Training and Education.
