Seeking motivated and independent post-Ph.D. researcher to join our team. We discovered that the fly brain becomes electrically active during pupal development. We are now studying where this activity comes from, how it contributes to brain wiring, and if it has an impact on adult behavior. This is a brand new direction of study for the fly, and, with so many open questions, offers post-docs a wide-open field to develop an independent research program. In our new lab at UCLA, we have the tools (our own opto-capable 2P, confocal, and computer-controlled widefield fluorescence microscopes) and the community to train, learn new science, and prepare for the next step in your journey. Expertise in fly genetics, microscopy, neurodevelopment and/or neuroanatomy required.

Expertise in image analysis, optogenetics, molecular biology, or fly sensory behavior preferred.
