vivoVerse is seeking a Scientist to join our high-throughput screening (HTS) team. In this role, you will help develop next-generation screening services for efficacy and toxicology assessments of chemicals using C. elegans. You will be responsible for designing new assays, conducting screens, and analyzing results. You are also expected to adhere to SOPs, follow instructions, and collaborate with the HTS team to ensure timely and high-quality execution of project milestones.
We are looking for highly motivated and independent individuals capable of developing new assays, from the design to successful implementation. The role involves planning, coordinating, executing, and analyzing screens in collaboration with other Scientists and Engineers. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience working with C. elegans models and image-based high-throughput screening. A Ph.D. in biology, neuroscience, or biomedical engineering with a focus on C. elegans research is required.
Essential Functions:
Develop new C. elegans assays for efficacy and toxicity testing under the leadership of the Director of Science
Perform large-scale, high-throughput screening (HTS) assays using C. elegans models
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to follow existing SOPs, implement SOP updates, and develop new SOPs in accordance with GLP.
Analyze images of C. elegans and assist in labeling and scoring phenotypes using our in-house analysis software
Collaborate with other team members in the evaluation of new technologies and assays
Communicate project goals, action items, milestones, and progress reports
Participate in the preparation of peer-reviewed publications, research proposals, and marketing materials
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Ph.D. in biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on C. elegans biology, preferably neuroscience, developmental biology, disease models, and aging
Experience in high-throughput screening with C. elegans models (mutant screens, RNAi screens, drug/chemical screens, or toxicity screens)
Experience working with microscopes and performing image-based analysis
Good knowledge of laboratory practices, quality assurance, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Meticulous attention to detail, well-organized, ability to prioritize, decision-making skills, and careful execution of tasks
Basic skills in quantitative science to review, analyze, and interpret data
Excellent writing and communication skills
Writing reports, maintaining laboratory logs, and presenting data
Desirable Skills:
Experience with high-throughput screening platforms
Familiarity with basic statistical analysis
Experience working with and analyzing large datasets
Knowledge of advanced biomedical tools, such as liquid handling, library preparation, microfluidics, or laboratory automation
Working Conditions:
Standard C. elegans assays in a wet laboratory
Microscopy work in a darkroom environment
Image-based HTS workflows
Must be comfortable following instructions from team members
Work with hazardous materials with proper safety equipment and SOPs
Regular work week with non-standard night and weekend work as required to complete deliverables
Recruitment Process:
The position will be open until filled. If you are interested, send a cover letter with your CV to careers@vivoverse.com. If you are selected, the next step will be a web-based and/or onsite interview. The appropriate arrangement will be coordinated with the selected applicants in connection with the hiring process.
