The Departments of Biology and of Chemistry and Biochemistry at San Diego State University invite applications for a Tenure Track/Tenured Assistant or Associate Professor position in Translational Science, broadly defined, to begin Fall 2025. We seek candidates employing cutting-edge interdisciplinary molecular or computational approaches to investigate experimental therapeutics [e.g. immunotherapy, antimicrobials, gene therapy, vaccines etc] that address pressing health challenges [including but not exclusive of cancer, infectious disease and metabolic pathologies] . We define translational science broadly to include clinical, public health oriented, preclinical and basic research as in https://ncats.nih.gov/about/about-translational-science/spectrum and invite applicants from any aspects of the translational science continuum. We particularly encourage applicants with research interests focused on health disparities of high relevance across the region of Southern California, which is a unique, transborder area with a minority majority population.

The minimum Academic Year (9-month) salary range for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Assistant Professor/Associate Professor rank and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated annual Academic Year (9-month, “hard money”) salary range is $94,000-$97,000 for Assistant Professor and $116,000 - $120,000 for Associate Professor. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. The appointee can also receive additional compensation during summer months and/or as overload during the academic year using research funds, subject to campus policies.
