Postdoctoral Position in Plant Pathology/Fungal Genetics
The Perlin Lab at the University of Louisville is seeking a Postdoctoral scientist to conduct research involving the interaction of Microbotryum fungi with their respective host species. While this fungal species complex infects hundreds of plant species in the Caryophyllaceae (Pinks), severely-limited host specificity is the norm for most individual Microbotryum species. This NSF-funded project will involve functional characterization of secreted effectors used by the fungus to manipulate its host(s), especially to replace pollen with the fungal spores and to elicit sex change in infected female flowers. Applicants must have a PhD in Plant Pathology, Fungal Genetics, Genetics, Microbiology, Developmental Biology, or a closely related discipline at time of appoi
