The McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis announces an opportunity for a director to lead the school-wide Center for Women’s Health Engineering (CWHE). This appointment will be at the Associate Professor or Professor level with tenure offered in the candidate’s engineering department of choice.

Building on WashU’s strengths within the McKelvey School of Engineering and the School of Medicine, the CWHE was launched in 2022 to advance novel engineering approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases relevant to women’s health. The CWHE will promote research on women-specific conditions and conditions that disproportionately affect women, including disorders and cancers of the reproductive system, select neurological conditions, and adverse maternal health outcomes, with the goal of increasing health for women across the lifespan. The Center will also train the next generation of researchers, entrepreneurs and policy leaders needed to change the trajectory of women’s healthcare in the region, nation and beyond.

The CWHE Director will work to unite investigators from the McKelvey School and School of Medicine and promote collaboration in research, education and training at undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral levels. The CWHE Director will also mentor CWHE investigators to advance researchers in the discipline, and support efforts related to technology transfer, entrepreneurship and outreach both within and outside of the university community.
