The Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin on September 1, 2026. We are seeking outstanding candidates to join our vibrant research and teaching community in the following areas:
Assistant Professor – Microbial Ecology Candidates will pursue a research program in microbial ecology, with interests that may include the impact of microbial communities on human or environmental health, interactions among microorganisms, or evolutionary processes in microbial communities.
Assistant Professor – Genetics Candidates will pursue a research program using genetic tools to investigate mechanistic molecular biological phenomena. We will prioritize candidates with research programs examining microbial (bacterial, fungal, or archaeal) systems to examine important biological questions.
Assistant Professor – Biology Education Candidates will develop a teaching and research program focused on Biology Education and/or pedagogy in science. A priority will be improving student success in first-year undergraduate study, with a focus on teaching and/or leading instructional teams in our core General Biology courses.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree and have relevant postdoctoral research and teaching experience. A strong commitment to both research excellence and innovative teaching is expected.
